Bible Study 101 - Set a Time

You don't have to have a seminary degree to read the Bible. You also don't have to have volumes of commentaries to understand it.
If you want to learn what God has to say to you, apply these easy tips for developing your Bible study skills.
The first thing you will need is a block of time dedicated to Bible study. Some people start with 15 minutes, others devote an hour or more. Some people want to give God 1/10 of each 24-hour day and spend at least hours with Him. The amount of time is between you and God, but make it at a time and place where you will not be distracted. This is not a competition or race. Speed reading is not the goal.
You will need a physical Bible or a Bible app. BlueLetterBible.org
is a free app where you can choose between many translations and use built-in word study tools. Don't panic. We're not starting with Hebrew and Greek studies, though you will learn about them. We'll start with the simple things and learn a little at a time. "...precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little" Isaiah 28:10
We know Jesus got up while it was still dark and went to a secluded place to pray. As a first step, talk with God about the time you can spend together and let Him guide your heart to a good time and place. I pray He will bless your time together and you will hear Him speak through His Word as never before.
